DFW public school teachers
are still waiting for a pay raise…
as Angie Chen Button voted to
give $1 BILLION away to the wealthy!

The Texas House, under immense political pressure from Gov. Greg Abbott, voted 86-61 to approve a bill that will spend $1 billion to create education savings accounts, a form of vouchers families can use to pay for their children’s private schooling.
5 million students attend public schools in Texas. That’s a fact.
For over 3 years now, the teachers who educate those 5 million students have been left waiting for a pay raise. They deal with inflation. They deal with the rising cost of rent. But when it comes to their pay, all they have gotten are political promises.
Instead of standing up for public schools, State Representative Angie Chen Button helped pass Governor Abbott’s voucher plan — a $1 BILLION giveaway to subsidize the private school education of a few wealthy families (less than 2% of the number of children who attend public schools).
The voucher bill is expected to reach the Governor’s desk any day now.
But HB 2, the bill that provides needed funding for public schools has not passed the legislature.
We need to urge them to pass a school finance bill that increases per student spending and gives teachers the pay raises they deserve.
There are only a few weeks left in the legislative session. Demand action now!
